38. Re7 $1 {[%CAl Gb6d7,Gd7f8] "Always ask yourself what would your opponent
play and prepare against it or try to restrict his options!" Normally in such
a position White would have three candidate moves: 38.b5, 38.Ra7 and 38.Kg2.
The first one doesn't work, since after 38.b5 cxb5 39.cxb5 axb5 White cannot
advance the a-pawn because the Nb6 is hanging. The latter ones are good moves,
keeping the position with a large advantage, but if we understand that Black
is practically in zugzwang and his only plan to free his knight and king is
connected with the advance of the f-pawn (...f7-f6 or ...f7-f5), then it
becomes clear that White can and should prevent it by playing 38.Re7! after
which Black doesn't have any chance at all to survive.
