{This is one of my favourite local games. Philip reaches move 38 in a
double-rook ending confident that the position is too blocked for black to
make progress. Michael then demonstates his understanding of the position by
sacrificing a whole rook to turn the lack of mobility of white's rooks in the
blocked position to his advantage. By move 42 black has 5 pawns and a pawn
juggernaut as compensation for the rook. 18 months after this game was played
Michael was British Champion.} 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nd2 g6 4. c3 Bg7 5. Bd3 Nd7
